March Favourites!

Let me start off by saying Happy 23rd Birthday to my not so little sister, Kelly!

I hope you guys have had a nice Easter and stuffed your faces with lots of chocolate like i have :D

This month i have been loving a few different things. Lets start off with my beauty favourites.
I have fallen back in love with my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. With a variety of neutrals in there i am having fun creating lots of spring make up looks. I've found myself reaching for it almost everyday throughout March.
For the first half of March i loved using my Mua mosaic blush in English Rose to create a subtle Spring glow.
To go with the blush i have been using this blusher brush that i got for Christmas off Kristopher's mum and dad a hell of a lot more than i did in January and February. I dont know what brand it is ( or if it is even branded) but i can tell you that its an amazing brush non the less and the bristles are super soft.
I wrote about this last beauty item in another post http://missshortstuff91.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/shopping-my-stash-spring-edition.html Ever since i rediscovered this Avon lipstick in pout ive worn it, the fact that it is a neutral pink shade with a sheer finish works well for me for spring.

Now i have also been loving wearing my black converse and stripey vest top from HandM. You cant get me out of them lately. Paired with jeans or leggings and a simple cardigan and your ready to go, so effortless but mega comfy.

Finally Vampire Diaries. Who else loves this series? I have just finished watching series 6 and cant wait till Kelly gets series 7 on dvd when thats due to come out.

What was your favourite chocolate for Easter?
Are you loving a series at the moment? Let me know in the commets, i'm always on the look out for more stuff to watch.

Butter cream diaster

As ive been on annual leave for two weeks i have had a lot of spare time on my hands, so to keep me busy i decided to bake some Easter themed cakes.
The cakes in themselves turned out okay, however the butter cream didn't, it had gone runny on me, i did try to save it by adding more icing sugar but that didnt work, so i just stuck with what i had. They still taste nice though and thats all that matters really isn't it?!
And how cute are these sprinkles? I found them in Asda and just had to have them they are sooo cute!

This is how i made them.

Ingredients

  • 100g caster sugar
  • 100g soft butter
  • 100g self raising flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
For the topping
  • 200g soft butter
  • 200g icing sugar
  • Sprinkles
Method
  1. Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees and place a cake cases into your bun tray.
  2. Put the sugar and butter into a bowl and mix together. Sift in the flour.
  3. Break the eggs into the bowl and add the vanilla extract. Mix everything together.
  4. Divide the mixture between the cake cases and bake in the oven for 20 minutes until springy.
  5. Leave the cakes too cool.
  6. To  make the butter cream, mix the butter and icing sugar together.
  7. Spread the mixture onto your cakes (or even pipe) and add your sprinkles.
Here is a link to the recipe i followed:http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/415618/iced-fairy-cakes

I hope you all have a nice Easter and i will be back with you again  with a new post next Thursday.

Empties

Here are some products that ive finished off recently, all of which i would definitely repurchase or already have. You might recognise most of these products from previous posts but that just goes to show that i love using them.

Aussie Colour Mate shampoo
Believe it or not but i picked this Aussie shampoo up from Poundland. They have offers on where for example if you spend a pound you can get some Aussie shampoo for 4 pound and thats for a 500ml bottle. They have allsorts of offers on from shampoo, to cushions and throws to perfume and at a reasonable price aswell. A shampoo for me for coloured hair is like a must especially now as i have purple hair, so when i sore this i had to get it as it was so cheap.

Batiste dry shampoo Cherry
I'm one of those people who dont hate washing their hair but hate drying it, so if i can get away with not having to wash it i will always use a dry shampoo to freshen up my roots and i always head for the Batiste brand, ive found these to be the best for me. I always seem to come back to the cherry because of how gooood it smells.

Original Source Vanilla & Raspberry
Another product i keep coming back to is this vanilla and raspberry showel gel. Basically just because it smells so sweet and amazing!

Nivea pearl and beauty deodorant 100ml
Always love a good Nivea deodorant and i love to have the small size to keep in my handbag

Cheryl Storm Flower and Avon's Little Black Dress perfume

Rimmel Lasting Finsih 25 hr foundation
I think this must be one of my favourite drug store foundations, i can always find a shade that suits my skin and i like the fact its full coverage aswell.

The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day Cream
I think im now on my third pot of this, which should say a lot in itself. I love using this moisturiser because its so gentle but very moisturising on my dry sensitive skin. Pair it with the night cream and youve got yourself a winning moisturiser combo.

Anew Essential Youth Maximising Serum 10ml
I loved using this and need to buy the full size version from Avon.

Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara
One of my all time favourite mascaras. I like my lashes to look thick and full of volume and this mascara does that and comes in this cute dusty pink packaging. I find Maybelline make the best drugstore mascara so every time they bring out a new one i will always try it out.

What are your favourite beauty brands?

Shopping my stash (Spring Edition)

17:00 0 Comments A+ a-

As we are coming into spring i wanted to transition my make up to suit the season. I didnt want to spend money on new make up so i decided to look through my stash of make up and see what would be suitable to wear for spring. These are what i found.

This lovely MUA mosaic blush in English Rose, i used to wear this a lot last year. I love the fact it gives you a subtle pop of colour and it is a very budget friendly product but is still a very good product for the price.

Do you ever buy make up just because you get a free gift? Well... This is how i got this No7 Extreme Length waterproof mascara. It was a free gift when i bought some No7 products. I've never used a No7 mascara before so im quite excited to try it out and im hoping for good results. I'll keep you all updated when i try this out.

Then we have 3 lip products, Avon's Ultra Colour lipstick in Pout. This is like a pinky nude colour that would look great for everyday use.

I found Rimmel's moisture renew lipstick in Coral Garden which is similar to my trusted No7 lipstick so i had to pick this out to use.

Finally i picked out Rimmel's  Oh My Gloss in Glossip Girl. Its almost a clear gloss with just a tinge of a peachy nude shade and flecks of glitter to give your lips a little sparkle. I can see my wearing this on sunny spring days on its own or on top some lovely shades of pink lipstick to change it up a bit.

What products do you recommend using for spring?

Mothers Day!!

Let me just start off by saying Happy Mothers day Mum, and to all the mothers out there.
My mum means the world to me, so i decided to put together some pictures of us with our memories together.

Mum
I love you for
all the times you
picked me up when i
was down. For all
the times you traded
your warm smile for
my frown.
For all the times
you brushed my hair
and tucked me into
bed...Or needed
something for
yourself and put me
first instead.
For all the dreams
that we have shared
the tears and laughter
too. I love you mum
with all my heart...
There's no one quite
like you.

Make sure you treat your mum like the queen she is, you will never have another and no one will replace the love you share!

Review: Bourjois Paris Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer

16:59 0 Comments A+ a-

I came across this primer in Superdrug about a week a go, loved the sound of it so had to buy it so i could try it out. Its amazing. Leaves your skin looking dewy and soft. Great for people with dry skin because it moisturises aswell.  Bourjois Happy light luminous serum primer is such a gentle formula that does what it says on the bottle. Its a great primer that i think people with dry skin will love as it hydrates and gives your skin an mazing glow. You could use it on its own on no make up days. The only downside that i have found is it doesn't smell the nicest, but i can live with that because the product itself is amazing. I've not been using it for long so if you see it in my next monthly favourites then you know this product is worth having.

What primers do you use?
